Xfenser AI in OT/ICS: A Controlled PLC Impact Demo in the LabShock Virtual Lab
Xfenser AI can be applied beyond “classic” IT use cases, extending into OT/ICS scenarios where constraints, protocols, and operational impact differ significantly from enterprise environments. In this controlled experiment, conducted within the LabShock virtual lab, we demonstrate how Xfenser AI can safely operate in an industrial-like setting by interpreting the environment, interfacing with a PLC, and achieving a measurable outcome without causing unintended disruption.
While AI in cybersecurity is often associated with familiar IT workflows such as triage, log analysis, or SOC support, the real validation emerges when the domain shifts to OT/ICS. This exercise was intentionally designed to test whether Xfenser AI can act coherently in such environments—moving beyond simply generating recommendations to actually understanding context, constraints, and impact within an industrial control scenario.
Why We Used LabShock for OT

We used LabShock, a hands-on OT/ICS virtual lab environment intended to emulate industrial systems, explore PLC/SCADA communications, and run realistic simulations in a controlled setting.
LabShock is positioned as "OT lab as code" with fast deployment and preconfigured components, which makes it suitable for repeatable exercises and validation.
What Xfenser AI Adds in This Scenario
Xfenser is an AI-augmented platform for offensive and defensive security operations, aimed at orchestrating complex tasks into structured sub-tasks while maintaining traceability and human governance checkpoints for critical actions.
That matters in OT because the goal is not autonomy at all costs, but reliable execution with explicit control points when actions could cause impact.
The Demo: From Understanding to a Verifiable Outcome

Within the LabShock virtual environment, Xfenser AI interpreted the scenario, selected a coherent interaction path toward the objective, and interfaced with a PLC as part of the exercise flow. For more details about the LabShock environment, visit the LabShock documentation.
The exercise ended with a clear, measurable outcome: shutting down the system as a controlled proof of successful impact inside the lab environment.
